Finally something that work out of the box! I was going to record a local radio station online. It only play in embed flash of the website. Strangely recording what the sound card going to play in Linux turns out to be hard.... until I found this program. Spent quite some time to download & install legacy gambas2 libraries though.

easy to install, simple to use. saved file can be mp3 or ogg. works on ubuntu 12.04 64 bit.

I've loved OutRec since I first started using it. Worked great on Ubuntu 12.04 for in-game audio recording. Sadly, Ubuntu 12.10 uses Gambas3 so OutRec no longer works because of an unsatisfiable dependecy...

This is the best audio recording project for recording what is playing on your computer that I have ever seen. It is as simple to use as is possible. I like the fact that it can record in .wav form (which can be subsequently converted to any other format you like) but can also record 'natively' in MP3 or OGG form should you so desire. A real nice feature is that, when you choose to record in MP3 or OGG form, the program *appears* to be recording in .wav. (The size of the .wav files is what is shown.) Therefore, should you desire to burn a CD from what you are recording, you can see when you approach 700 MB. (The 'conversion' to MP3 or OGG takes place after the recording is completed - and it does so instantly.) This program may be a 'beta' but I can't see how it could be improved. It is an amazing program and I recommend it to all.
