he guys.
the following problem occurs when i install the current version (1.5.2) onto a pc with win 7 pro sp1 and outlook 2013 in a AD domain.
when i install outlook caldav syncronizer as domain admin (set it to be used by everyone) the plugin gets installed for the admin but NOT for the other uses.
if i'd like to use it as normal domain user i have to get them local admin privileges and install it again with this user.
regards
sash
This could be done but has some drawbacks according to
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/vsto/archive/2010/03/08/deploying-your-vsto-add-ins-to-all-users-saurabh-bhatia.aspx
"End users running with current user privilege cannot install/uninstall or disable an add-in. "
So I would rather prefer to set InstallAllUsersVisible to false so that nobody can choose that option of the installer.
he.
this is the common behaviour in an enterprise environment. "non plivileged users" cant disable/enable plugins without the knowlege of the IT department. to do so you have to start outlook as admin.
in an home evironment all users have admin rights. if not the home admin knows about it and knows how to handle the situation.
so using these registry keys should be ok for most applications.
plz add these to the "all users" install.
anyway NOBODY should use an admin account as user account! never! but its common in the windoze world....i'm more of a penguin fan...
You are right, we will check how we can configure the installer.
Ticket moved from /p/outlookcaldavsynchronizer/tickets/123/
Move to WiX Installer planned for the future.
Are there a manual solution?
install for everyone will be available and working in next release finally:)
