I'm sorry to bug you guys, but I'm really interested in the progress of our2unes. Is the project currently being developed? Was it more of a pipe dream that now got set aside? Is school work or a job making it difficult to find time to develop and you might get around to dev it later on? I'm just curious. By the by, you guys rock

One of my clients is a music publisher with offices in London, LA and Nashville. They have a massive library of music which needs to be accessible not only to listen, but also to download to send to agents etc. They are almost entirely Mac based and thought iTunes would fit the bill until I pointed out that music shared from the server via iTunes is not down-loadable.
I searched for solutions to this, thinking I'd have to find some bespoke software, when I came across ourTunes. I set it up today and they think it's wonderful, even though the interface is a little <cough> inelegant. It's simplicity is it's major plus. It does what it does. For your info they have a Mac mini with Mac OS 10.4.11 and Sharepoints to set up sharing, users and groups (Leopard wasn't around when it was set up). It was tricky making it work until I extracted iTunes from iLife 06 and used that on the server. Then it worked perfectly first time! All the client Macs are using iTunes 7.
My point is this software is ideal for all the music publishers and labels, particularly the independents who can't afford a bespoke database solution. Keeping it all within the iTunes interface with all it's familiarity is the second major plus.
I'm going to ask them to contribute something to your efforts. What would be really really good though is if you could devote some more time to it to improve the interface and reliability when working with upgrades of iTunes. Even better would be a stand-alone application but I guess you'd need to have Mac and Windows programmers. (It's great as it is as Java cross-platform as even the accountants on their Win boxes can access it, but Java seems to get broken regularly).
Anyway, this is mainly a note to say "great effort" and please try to keep up development.
Kind regards
p.s. If you could produce a new version which searches by Genre too that would be great.
