Cables to Go USB Serial DB25 Not Working

Guys can you please help.  I have a Cables to Go, Port Authority model #22429 usb to serial db25 adapter that I'm trying to connect to an old but expensive barcode printer to my Mac os X (10.4).  I've installed the newest UB Prolific 2033 drivers from this website and I see my cable as being listed under System Profiler/USB as USB serial Controller D
    Version:    4.00
    Bus Power (mA):    500
      Speed:    Up to 12 Mb/sec
      Manufacturer:    Prolific Technology Inc.
      Product ID:    0x2303
      Vendor ID:    0x067b

I've installed the driver but I don't get the virtual port listed I tried "ls /dev" and also "ls -l /dev/tty.PL2303-*" in terminal and there is nothing with tty.usb or anything else with a pl2033 listing whatsoever.

Can somebody please help.  I don't want to have to get rid of a $1000 tag printer.

This device is listing in the Info.plist and should work, although I did not have a device with this
