OSwiss is a FREE software that makes tournament managment very easy. Efforts has been made while programming many useful functions and creating simple and powerful user interface. To run this application you will need Java Runtime Enviroment (JRE) at least version 6. If you don't have it, you may easly download if from Java Web Page.
Just imagine that you are a chess tournament organiser. About 30 players signed in, all tables, chess-boards are prepeared, but there are still one problem - we don't know how to arrange players into pairs. You may try round system (all vs all), but playing 29 rounds will take enormous amount of time and ladder system (the same as soccer cup) is extremely injustice. The solution in this situation is so-called swiss system.
Swiss system calculates pairs for each round of tournament. It tries to assing together players of the same strength. After several rounds it is able to generate final standings. This system is very justly and wiedly used in tournaments in sports: chess, squash, scrabble, trading card games, and much more.
