OSP 1.5 BETA Now Available!

We're very proud to announce the availability of the OSP 1.5 BETA. It features donations from the r-smart group, Virginia tech, and substantial new design and development work done collaboratively between r-smart, U Minnesota Duluth, U Delaware, and U of Rhode Island.

The new release has:

a great looking, intuitive new user interface
a public portfolio view
more robust commenting and interaction features
template-based presentation features
more flexible and manageable portfolio element structure

OSPI/OKI Meeting at MIT

OSPI representatives from the University of Minnesota, Indiana University, University of Michigan, University of Rhode Island, and the r-smart group met with MIT/OKI representatives in Cambridge, Mass. on June 16, 2003 to begin the development of a next generation architecture for the OSPI ePortfolio, testing the assertion that "ePortfolio functional requirements can be fully addressed through OKI OSIDs". The group determined that ePortfolios would demand new services unique to ePortfolios, and explored the idea of creating a new ePortfolio OSID. This work is continuing.

OSPI Receives Mellon Foundation Planning Grant

Trent Batson, Director of Information Technology at the University of Rhode Island announced that OSPI has received a $50,000 planning grant from the Mellon Foundation to facilitate OSPI organizational planning activities.

Open Source Portfolio 1.0.0 released

The Open Source Portfolio Initiative (OSPI) is a collaborative, open source, software development project based on the University of Minnesota System's (U of MN) electronic portfolio (ePortfolio) software.
