#3176 Error page when searching billing codes and comfirming

I get the following error page when i double click on code field in billing and select a code them confirm:

Unable to reproduce in RELEASE_12_1 branch. Here are the steps I followed:

1. Added a demographic & updated billing # for doc in admin interface
2. Opened master record
3. Clicked create invoice
4. Entered "A" in code field & double clicked that field (Service Code Search windows showed up)
5. Selected Code "A001A" and clicked "Confirm"
6. "Service Code" windows closed, and selected service code appeared in the proper code field

No errors / exceptions were provided.

The issue has been replicated on R12.1 build #404.

Observed: It does work partially with some letters entered (type 'z' in code field, double click that field and follow step 5) but throws error with other letters (ie 'a').

Applicable to Master as well.
