Problem Summary:
The date displayed next to each lab in the "Lab Results" section of the Encounter Screen is the "batch date" or the "obs_date" in the hl7TextInfo table, not the date of the test or "Date of Service" for the lab. Lab facilities often put multiple tests in one batch/file which means that the batch date is the same for all of the labs. If an Internet outage or other disruption has occurred, this problem can be compounded with many days of lab results having the same batch date.

Expected Results:
The date displayed in the Lab Results section of the Encounter Screen should be the date the test was performed, not the batch date.

Actual Results:
The date displayed in the Lab Results section of the Encounter Screen is the batch date, not the test date.

Steps to Reproduce:

  • Upload the attached HL7 file
  • Open the inbox
  • View the new labs

     problem summary
The date displayed next to the labs in the encounter screen is the "batch" date or the "obs_date" in the hl7TextInfo table, not the Date of Service for the actual lab result. That means that if labs are all associated under one batch with one date that date is displayed in favor of the lab's test date. This makes reviewing the labs without opening them an issue on the Encounter screen
