OSCAR 4.2 released

The Open Cluster Group is pleased to announce the latest release of the Open Source Cluster Application Resources (OSCAR) HPC cluster deployment/management toolkit, version 4.2.

This version supports the most Linux distributions/architectures to date which includes:
- Fedora Core 2 (x86)
- Fedora Core 3 (x86)
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 (x86, x86_64, ia64)
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 (x86, x86_64, ia64)
- Mandriva Linux 10.0 (x86)
- Mandriva Linux 10.1 (x86)

* CentOS and Scientific Linux are also known to work

New features include a widget to monitor real-time cluster deployment status. For hardware that does not support network boot, the Build AutoInstall Floppy feature has been replaced by Build AutoInstall CD. Software RAID on cluster nodes are now supported. tftp-server has been replaced with atftp-server for better scalability. Various other software packages have been updated, including:
- Ganglia updated to v3.0.1
- MPICH updated to v1.2.7
- PVM updated to v3.4.5+4
- SystemImager updated to v3.5.3
- TORQUE updated to v1.2.0p5
