Hello and merry x-mas everyone, For those who wonder when a new version of SIM ISO will be, it's "real soon now". The reason why it is taking such a long time is because the next version will be based on CentOS 3, a RHEL 3 clone. Fedora is moving too fast to do proper testing, and they discontinue the updates almost as soon as the new version is out, while RHEL 3 (and therefore CentOS 3) is supported until 2008. This means that there will be fewer components to check between each release. Of course, changing base distribution isn't exactly painless - the original build script are very Fedora centric (even if FC is a RH sponsored RH clone, it is not just plug-and-play) and it takes some time to re-write and double-check all the processes. The missing component right now is the core OSSIM packages, and that is the real reason why I write this email: I need to get hold of the .src.rpm (or the RPM build script) so I can re-compile OSSIM and it's dependencies against CentOS 3. I would greatly appreciate if anyone could upload or email me the .src.rpm and/or build script so I can feed my auto builder I just finished building ;) Best regards Michael Boman |
