    Hello!

Several weeks ago I bought the Microsoft Fingerprint Reader and used it for some days. With this gadget you can enter password-protected websites and programs without typing in your password. That could be a very reliable way to store your passwords because your fingerprint is unique, but I noticed that the software "DigitalPersona Password Manager" which was enclosed to the device is deficient.

I think so because there are several deficiencies:

    1. There are no facilities to create several profiles. So you can’t use the Fingerprint Reader when you share your account with another person, because if you register another person’s fingerprints, this person can log in with your passwords.

    2. Anyone who knows the password of your account can register his or her fingerprints. From this point of time, he or she can open all password-protected websites you saved with the software.

    ---
Note: It’s very easy to find out the password of Windows XP accounts if you have physical access to the computer.
    ---

    3. The user doesn’t know whether his data is protected by a security-providing encryption. I think that the user should know, whether and how his data is protected effectual or not.

    4. It only works on Windows. Other operating systems are not supported.

So I started to think about the problem and I got the idea to start an Open Source-project. But first of all, I’ll learn programming. ;)

I look forward to see you as a member of our team.

    Yours faithfully,

    Damian Ksters

      Hello.
I've been working on this for several weeks, but acheived no results. I've disassemlerd the driver and tried to use the functions that are exported from the dll libraris, but I don't know and can't find the parameters of those functions.

If someone can help write paulneyman@list.ru
