    Hi,
I am using the ORS system to schedule equipment for students and faculty. I had a question about the email log option under user managment. If a user has the email log option enabled does that mean he /she receives an email when they are signed up to use a particular piece of equipment. Do they also receive action logs ??
    Thanks in advance,
    Deepa

      Deepa:

This could use some documentation... Sorry. There are several different e-mail options. I might as well use this chance to write some brief documentation.

First, if a user has NO e-mail addresses set in their profile, none are sent (obviously). If a user has both e-mail addresses set, any e-mail to that user is sent to both addresses.

Here's the break-down of the e-mails that can go out and how to configure them:

      * A user receives an e-mail when they are signed up for a resource by someone else (administrator or otherwise). This is not configurable.

      * A user receives an e-mail when one of their signups is promoted or demoted from/to an alternate position. This is also not configurable.

      * If the configuration option [ email_primaries ] is true, than an e-mail is sent to a primary signup-holder when someone signs up as alternate to that signup. This could be turned off (false) if, for example, the schedule has lots of activity or when signups are typically very long. In either case a user might receive many e-mails because of many alternate signups.

      * E-mail monitors (set by editing a user in the User Management page) will receive notices for the indicated resource whenever ANY other user signs up, changes, or deletes a signup for the resource. This might be used, for example, by someone who is responsible for maintaining control of that resource (or IS that resource, such as an instructor).

      * All users with an "E" privlidge (set in User Management page) will receive the daily log files including the action log, sigups log, and backup log. The time frequency can be set in the program configuration settings as can which of the logs should be sent. Generally, only administrators should receive these logs.

      Hope this helps

      -Jeremy
