Don't get too excited, but...

I don't want anyone to get their hopes up, but I am restarting this project and doing a full redesign. I am hoping to use this project as a platform for some of my smaller utility libraries during the development of the RPG Engine. Of course, if/when completed, the engine would use many of these utility libraries.

CVS Repository Online

With ArrowG version 0.1a abandoned we have cleared our CVS Repository. Development on v0.2a is underway and going well (we planned a lot better this time) and it has been imported into the CVS Repository. Take a look, send us feed back, but be warned it has almost no features, and has not been tested (but it should build properly)

ArrowRPG v0.1.a Alpha Released!

ArrowRPG v0.1.a Alpha has been released to Premiere Members, none of the major features are implemented yet, as the Engine will not be full-featured until at least v0.5 or higher. However, the Engine now has base functionality. We are in the process of writing the Alpha documentation and upon completion the Alpha release will be made avaliable to the general public.

AGHHHHHHH

Everything is GONE! All my work on ArrowRPG has been basically wiped out. My Computer crashed, and wiped my entire Win2K partition, where all my data was (unfortunatly I didn't save ArrowRPG on my data drive, which is ok). I have learned my lesson and will be backing up religiously. Both to the website (meaning more source code browsing!) and to CD's. Sorry to all those who were watching this project with hope of a quick release, it will be a while...:(

ArrowNet Sub-Project Underway

ArrowRPG's plan has always involved MMORPG support. Therefore the ArrowRPG Group has begun a new sub-project called ArrowNet. This project will provide multiplayer features to ANY game type (not just RPGs). The system will be similar to those of First-Person Shooters and MMORPGs but any game should be able to use it.

ORION has changed names

ORION is dead...or is it?

Well the ORION RPG project, as originally planned has been terminated. However the project is being "reborn" and a total remake of the engine is underway. Since the old engine wasn't very far yet, the new engine has basically caught up. There will be a new API developed for drawing and playing sound. By using plugins the engine will be able to draw using any graphics API (DirectX, Gtk#, GDI+, etc.), and play sound with any source API (DirectX, etc.). The same will be done for the input and networking sections (DirectInput/Play, etc.). This will allow the engine to run on any platform with a .Net framework (Win/Linux with Mono, and Windows with MS.Net). The engine will be the first priority with a suite of editing tools coming out later. A Tentative release calender is being prepared and will be released soon.

Not Much has happened

Not much has happened in the development of ORION, the "ORION Team" has returned to school for another year of ugh... but progress will be made. The tileset editor is turning out to be more difficult that was previously expecting, that project may be scrapped and a "TileSet Converter" that converts from PNG or JPEG images to OTS tilesets may be used instead.
