New Development Direction: MVC

The next phase of ORION (this will be the 1.2-alpha and 1.3-beta releases) will be to integrate the code into EuropaPHP. The primary nagging code problems up to this point were quite simply M, V, and C. The M has been taken care of with Doctrine and I am now happy with the code style and stability of the model layer, but there is a righteous funk rising from the HTML generation sprinkled among model & controller code. And I have no desire to write my own V/C classes when there are so many cool libraries to try out. If anyone wants to take on the initial integration, or share the load, or just follow along in the next month or two, let me know. -Luke

Project has been refreshed

Announcing version 1.1.351!
<br><br>

There had been a 9-month black hole starting around January where my cronworks.net email address was not being forwarded without me realizing. I usually get around 20-30 emails a day so it's hard to notice the 1-2 emails per week that were missing.
<br><br>

My sincere apologies to you all who had tried downloading & testing this software. I hadn't been on this site since I assumed no one was using ORION. I have been personally using it for years now, but had no reason to check up on SF.net without knowing of any support requests coming in.

1.1 Beta is available

Arriving more quickly than anticipated, the Doctrine ORM modifications have been finished. The 1.1 release includes an entirely Doctrine-ized database build process and has fully removed all custom SQL classes. Some custom SQL queries remain, which are being piped through the Doctrine classes, but they are mostly in benign cleanup code and can be removed or converted at leisure.

Feedback is always welcome.... read more
