Hello, thank you very much for your open-source project. I am very interested in your software. My graduation project is related to origami, and your origami software has greatly inspired and helped me. However, I have just started learning Java and encountered great difficulties while reading the source code. There are many methods that I don't quite understand. If possible, could you add more annotations to the code for folding this part? Thank you very much!
Thanks! I thought maybe I didn't understand something. Reflect is hard to get my arms around.
Yes, you are right, the wings do get interlocked with the body, and you cannot get them out. (And even if you could, they would be upside-down.) This is actually a consequence of a more general issue: as of now, the program does not know anything about the layer structure of a flat model. It just assumes the paper is made out of some kind of "ghost material" that can pass through itself. The reason I wrote the program that way is to make it easier to edit models. But, in turn, it also makes it harder...
Very nice program. I’m having a problem trying to actually fold a paper crane using the program instructions produced by “export/ to PDF” of the “example figure” crane. Step 8 sinks the crane body. But when I do that, I am unable to eventually fold down the wings at step 16. The wings are trapped by the body. I’m very familiar with folding the crane the traditional way, but I’m not able to follow the instructions. Am I missing something?
Hi, Nice and quite usable program! It would be a nice option to use graphic paper...
