As of right now, it doesn't work, primarily because we workaround a bug in ORBit using an evil hack :-) -- and I'm working on it, but it's not very easy (will probably require changes to ORBit). (The gist of it is that ORBit needs a way of checking if the servant is already active during poa.c:*activate_object() without relying on the _private member of the PortableServant.
