The target set to be reached in the 1st quarter of next year was achieved much earlier with ease and just before the closure of a successful year for OrangeHRM even when the world was financially challenged. PUCIT Lahore is a set of Pakistani contributors. They have proposed a Meeting Module for OrangeHRM. Requirements spec and UI spec are already posted in OrangeHRM Community Contributions forum for community feedback.

This will initially be developed as a third party module (means you have to separately download it and integrate) but if more users demand it, we would think about adding it to core product. Please take some time to review the specs and give the feedback to make their attempt a success.

For the ease of users, when installing OrangeHRM, its installer creates the required MySQL database. For this OrangeHRM requires MySQL root details. But you don’t get MySQL root details from shared web hosts. So, if you wanted to install OrangeHRM in your shared web hosting account, you have to install it manually which can be a tedious task if you are not tech savvy.

OrangeHRM 2.5-alpha.8 development release is now available. The punch in/out feature which was combined with timesheets, is now separately available as “Attendance Tracking” with a new attendance report.

Separating Project Time and Punch In/Out
In the current version of OrangeHRM, project time and punch in/out time entry mechanisms are integrated in a single timesheet. The punch in/out was introduced as an easier way to enter time for organizations that do not want detailed information of time spent on projects and activities.
However, based on user feedback, some organizations use both these type of time entry mechanisms. Punch In/Out is basically used to track attendance and project time is used to track detailed information on time spent on various projects and activities.
To improve the usability of this feature, we have decided to separate these 2 time tracking functionalities. Further, there will be configurable options to restrict employees’ rights to edit already reported Punch In/Out time data.... read more

OrangeHRM has released version 2.5-alpha.5 with more user interface bug fixes in Admin and Leave modules.

This release also includes improvements that were already made in OrangeHRM-2.5-alpha.3 development release. To progress the usability of OrangeHRM, it is now possible to expand and collapse the job description in a vacancy.

We're happy to announce that a web based upgrader has been added to Version 2.4.1 which upgrades your previous stable version of OrangeHRM to OrangeHRM 2.4.1. This was done in response to numerous requests we received from the user community in our forum and through email.

The upgrader can upgrade OrangeHRM versions 2.2.2.2, 2.3, and 2.4 to the latest OrangeHRM version 2.4.1. This is now available as a beta release from Sourceforge.... read more

Users can now download data from time sheets and reports directly to an excel spreadsheet or text file providing direct and easy access to information.

With this new functionality the username will be the only required field for a LDAP user where the password will be automatically checked with the LDAP connection. Last week, at OrangeHRM, we met David Axmark - the co-founder and VicePresident of MySQL.

David is a very inspiring personnel who can reach the minds of the young developers with the loads of experience he has. At the beginning of his speech he stated what was the basis for his wonderful creation, MySQL. But major part of the speech represented the improvement of MySQL, its contribution to the modern software development, cons and pros of MySQL, how we can contribute to its further improvement and etc. Throughout the speech he compared the position of MySQL with other open source database softwares. But he never tried to flatter its superiority. One of the question raised by the audience was "According to your view what is the best database software in the world now". His answer was quiet humble which I never expected. " There's nothing called the best software in the world. All depends on the perception of the developers and the nature of the project undertaken".
