For the life of me, how to get a successful upgrade?

First of all, I downloaded the 2.3b3 source, and found no upgrade scripts in the package. So I snooped around and downloaded the SVN source. I went ahead and uploaded that, overwriting my old files, and ran upgrade.php. Entered the database/user data, downloaded the backup, went to restore the backup, and it failed.

So I did a clean install of 2.3b3, which went fine. Then I still needed to get my data back, so ran upgrade.php. When it came time to restore from the backup file, I used the file I had previously created from the (failed) upgrade.

    But that failed, too.

Has anyone successfully upgraded from 2.2.2.2, and how did you do it?

This is the message from orangehrm user:

Surely, someone else has tried to upgrade?

I have tried too. V. frustrating! I believe there is an upgrade script available for those subscribing to support. I have requested it so we'll see if that works.
