I've now added 'proxy_http' Apache module to existing requirements of  
'proxy' and 'proxy_html'.

Yep, we've got some customers using TAP also, mainly Vodafone I  
believe. Definitely more reliable than using internet connection or  
email to SMS.

Hi all.. Just thought that I might share what I have done to provide paging
notifications from within opsview with no changes to default opsview
install. 
 
Downloaded qpage 3.3 from www.qpage.org. Extracted, compiled and installed
the program using default settings. Edited the qpage.cf file to reflect my
modem location, paging service details and SMS number for each opsview user.
Added nagios user to dialout group, fixed permissions in qpage spool
directory. (These can probably be fixed as part of the compile process).
Added script to /usr/local/bin called submit_sms, containing a one line
"/usr/local/bin/qpage $2 $4" (could probably do better with some error
checking ;)) 
 
In our area, sms messaging is possible through the local TAP number, this
ensures notifications even when the network/internet is unavailable.

Hi Rob,

The virtual machine is built on VMware server 1.02 and it's working fine
for us so I'm surprised it's not working for you.  Could you provide the
output of 'lspci' and 'lsmod' from the virtual machine please?

Bareword "Opsview::Role::ADMIN" not allowed while "strict subs" in use at
/anything/src/opsview/opsview-web-2.7.1/script/../lib/Opsview/Web/Controller/Admin.pm
line 16.

Also, "buildtools.tar.gz" is just a tar ;-)

Absolutely. In fact we're already working on it.

Unfortunately we're really busy so it is taking longer than we had  
hoped to finish packaging. We're also behind on documentation :(

Our resident Ubuntu guru says 'hopefully next week'. And I can't  
argue with that.

Yes, you can get Opsview to send SMS messages via sendpage etc; we  
have tested it on a VM and it has worked correctly for us.  However,  
since SMS gateway services generally have a cost involved we haven't  
included the wrapper in our free evaluation VM.

You should have all the access you need within the VM to set it up  
yourself with your own SMS services.

But the script calls an executable that doesn't exist.. I assume that I can
install SMS server software that will take these messages or can modify this
to work with quickpage or sendpage, etc.?

I've just booted up the 2.7.2 VM here and the ethernet device seems to
work correctly - which version of VMware server/player are you using?

The conf user still has root privileges using sudo - you should be able
to just 'sudo su' and enter the same password again to get root access.

vmware image. I just tried the latest 2.7.2 image and no ethernet device
shows up.. Can't locate a root password either? 2.6.4 the conf user had root
privileges but not in 2.7.2.
 
Any suggestions?

I am trying to use opsview-core-2.6.4.tar.gz, but the make process is
dependent on a executable file called 'fladmin' that does not exist in the
tarball.

fladmin -r "/tmp/opsview-core" install filelist
/bin/sh: fladmin: command not found

I've looked for fladmin on the opsview-2.6 vmware image but can't find it
there either.
