Hello I want to process my profile session with respect to per cpu. I tried this command below. but got "error: no sample files found: profile specification too strict ?" sudo opreport -l -g -d --xml -o current.opm session:current cpu:0 I also remember using oprofile + vpa, one can get a very nice Process > Thread > Module section in VPA. but in my oprofile + vpa, i only get Process > Module. any idea how this can be fixed ? Thanks Xin |

Do you get report data if you drop the "cpu:0"? If you're going to feed this XML-formatted file to VPA, why are you trying to give a cpu specification? VPA will show information only for CPUs that actually have samples. > > I also remember using oprofile + vpa, one can get a very nice Process >> Thread > Module section in VPA. but in my oprofile + vpa, i only get > Process > Module. any idea how this can be fixed ? You need to specify '--separate=thread' with opcontrol when setting up profiling parameters. -Maynard > > Thanks > > Xin > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Live Security Virtual Conference > Exclusive live event will cover all the ways today's security and > threat landscape has changed and how IT managers can respond. Any idea ? I assume you are also using '--separate=cpu'. If so, then as I said above, maybe there aren't any samples for the other h/w threads (i.e., "cpus"). Collect a profile with at least 4 applications actively running to verify you see per-cpu samples. -Maynard > > Xin > >>> >>> ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ >>> Live Security Virtual Conference >>> Exclusive live event will cover all the ways today's security and >>> threat landscape has changed and how IT managers can respond.
