You need to find some way to find out where this is called from. john |

I do not get a crash and hence don't have a core file. I greped for this error "attempt to create string with null pointer" and found that it is coming from libstdc++.so.5. - Dwarak On 12/6/05, John Levon <levon@...> wrote: > > On Tue, Dec 06, 2005 at 05:53:38PM -0600, Dwarakanath Rajagopal wrote: > > > I'm using version 0.9.1 on 2.6.12 kernel on a AMD64 machine. > > > > I'm oprofiling a large c++ application.After profiling, when I run > > opannotate, I get the following error, > > > > opannotate -assembly <executable path> > > opannotate error: attempt to create string with null pointer > > Do you have a core file? > > john > |

Hi, =20 I am working on Oprofile to support on platforms which have ARM11. But Oprofile commands opreport is not recognizing some options. Does Xscale1 Oprofile port for ARM support all the options? If not what all options and events it support? =20 Thanks Kiran=20 |

Hi, I need to setup oprofile-0.9.1 in timer interrupt mode with linux-2.6.x for an SMP MIPS platform. I changed the default init value for timer in the source code to 1. I have the following output so far: % ./opcontrol --vmlinux=3D/pathto/vmlinux.symbols % ./opcontrol --start using oprofile dir /home/guest/oprofile-0.9.1 Detected stale lock file. Removing. Using 2.6+ OProfile kernel interface. Reading module info. Daemon started. Profiler running. Using log file /var/lib/oprofile/oprofiled.log % cat /var/lib/oprofile/oprofiled.log bash-3.00# cat /var/lib/oprofile/oprofiled.log oprofiled started Fri Dec 31 16:01:14 1999 kernel pointer size: 4 % opcontrol --stop using oprofile dir /home/guest/oprofile-0.9.1 ...hangs forever until Ctrl-C How long does this typically take (I didnt change the default values for the buffer size)? % opcontrol --dump using oprofile dir /home/guest/oprofile-0.9.1 ...hangs forever until Ctrl-C % opcontrol --list-events using oprofile dir /home/guest/oprofile-0.9.1 Using timer interrupt There seems to be valid profile data being gathered: bash-3.00# cat /dev/oprofile/stats/cpu0/sample_received 1764 bash-3.00# cat /dev/oprofile/stats/cpu1/sample_received 547 bash-3.00# cat /dev/oprofile/stats/cpu4/sample_received 1978 % opreport cpu pretty NEC VR5500 cpu name mips/vr5500 oprofile: could not open unit mask description file /usr/local/share/oprofile//mips/vr5500/unit_masks This is not the platform I have and since I'm using timer mode, I thought opreport should not look for unit_masks file. What else could I be missing here? Also, how do I build and use the tests in libop/tests ? Thanks much in advance. _Srinivas |
