I am unable to use some of the OProfile examples on the
alpha platform using OProfile 0.9.1.

Steps to reproduce:
1) opcontrol --vmlinux=/usr/src/linux-2.6.16.1/vmlinux
2) opcontrol --start
3a) opreport --demangle=smart --symbols `which xmms`
Segmentation fault
3b) opannotate --source --assembly `which xmms`
Segmentation fault

Expected results: No segmentation faults

Additional Info:

(gdb) set args --source --assembly `which xmms`

(gdb) run
Starting program: /usr/bin/opannotate --source
--assembly `which xmms`

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
Cannot access memory at address 0x2002ed4000000000

(gdb) set args -cl --demangle=smart `which xmms`
(gdb) run
Starting program: /usr/bin/opreport -cl
--demangle=smart `which xmms`

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
Cannot access memory at address 0x20064ae000000000

I cannot reproduce this. Does this happen with any binary,
or only with xmms? Does a simple opreport -l work?
What's the output of these commands?

Note also that callgraphs are not supported on Alpha (AFAIK).

    worm griffin # opreport -l
    Segmentation fault

This issue seems to happen with any binary, not just xmms.

Hmm. Does opcontrol --reset help? What does the output of
    opcontrol --start look like?
