This would enable books to be easily packaged for DIAGRAM Poet image description tool and for use with DAISY 3 text players that use their own TTS, such as Read2Go.
The Save as DAISY Addin for Office 2010 (v. 184.108.40.206) allows you to export just DAISY 3.0 XML (NISO Z3986). Select "DAISY XML" instead of "Full DAISY" under File > Addins > Save as DAISY.
Yes, but Save as DAISY XML is not a Z3986 package with an .ncx file .opf files, similar to how DAISY 3 text only books are packaged.
OPF and NCX files contains references to SMIL and MP3 files. If you export to DAISY XML there are no SMIL and MP3 files, so the XML does not need to be synchronised with anything else and there is no point in outputting OPF and NCX files.
I am not one of the developers of this addon, but my guess is that the conversion from OOXML to DAISY XML is done by the addon itself (possibly with XSLT) and - when Full DAISY is produced - that this XSLT is then handed over to the DAISY Pipeline Lite, which also generates the OPF and NCX file. The DAISY Pipeline Lite is not needed in the conversion process when you export only to DAISY XML.
