Hi,
Let's imagine you are a project leader for big project
(total length of e.g. 1 year) with high amout of tasks.
Because the Gantt chart time scale in the Open
Workbench is fixed you'll get in touch with the
following problem (for example):
1. Daily scale
-You'll lost in all the details
-Difficult to print the Gantt chart in readable
format on reasonable amount of A4 pages
2. Weekly (or even rougher) scale
-You'll lost the details you are interested in
The solution might be Flexible Time Scale (FTS). The
example of how it should work is demonstrated by the
example:
1.I'll select the 1st three months of the project on
the time scale and I'll choose the monthly scale.
2.I'll select the next month and choose the daily
scale.
3. I'll select the rest of the project and choose
weekly scale.
The additional potentionaly useful features related to
the FTS might be:
1. Time Scale column color coding. So you'll get
immediately a visual impression what is the time scale
for each part of the project.
2. Rules definition for rows. For example:
IF the phase is finished
AND the phase location is within monthly scale
THEN collapse the phase.
...

1.I'll select the 1st three months of the project on
the time scale and I'll choose the monthly scale.
Set the scale to monthly and display 3 period
2.I'll select the next month and choose the daily
scale.
Insert a second Gantt element and display 31 daily periods
starting from a user defined data which you have to update
personally or if you start from project start then 125
periods and you have to scroll mannually to the fourth month.
3. I'll select the rest of the project and choose
weekly scale.
Insert a third Gantt element and display weekly periods ....
