Hi, I have a linux based software which needs to communicate with a target device through JTAG. Is there an API that urJTAG exports which my linux tool can use to facilitate this communication? Couldn't find any ready pointers to this in the urJTAG documentation. Thanks, Alok |

Category: openwince Group: None >Status: Closed Priority: 9 Private: No Submitted By: Zhenghao (talltk) Assigned to: Marcel Telka (telka) Summary: jtag-0.5.1 make errors Initial Comment: Hi everyone, I am desperate for help!! I am using the latest version of UBUNTU. I recently downloaded a copy of jtag-0.5.1 and include-0.4.2 from the sourceforge.net website. I tried ./configure, make and make install for include and everything worked out fine. Then I moved on to the jtag-0.5.1. ./configure worked without errors. However, when I tried to make or make install (prior to this I did a sudo make so it's not due to insufficient rights) I got this error: make[4]: Leaving directory `/tmp/jtag/libbrux/po' make[4]: Entering directory `/tmp/jtag/libbrux' if gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I. -I/usr/local/include/openwince -I/usr/local /include/openwince/device -I/usr/local/include/openwince/arm -I./../include -g -O2 -Wall -MT cmd_detectflash.o -MD -MP -MF ".deps/cmd_detectflash.Tpo" \ -c -o cmd_detectflash.o `test -f 'cmd/cmd_detectflash.c' || echo './'` cmd/cmd_detectflash.c; \ then mv -f ".deps/cmd_detectflash.Tpo" ".deps/cmd_detectflash.Po"; \ else rm -f ".deps/cmd_detectflash.Tpo"; exit 1; \ fi cmd/cmd_detectflash.c: In function `cmd_detectflash_run': cmd/cmd_detectflash.c:43: error: too few arguments to function `detectflash' make[4]: *** [cmd_detectflash.o] Error 1 make[4]: Leaving directory `/tmp/jtag/libbrux' make[3]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 make[3]: Leaving directory `/tmp/jtag/libbrux' make[2]: *** [all] Error 2 make[2]: Leaving directory `/tmp/jtag/libbrux' make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/tmp/jtag' make: *** [all] Error 2 What's going on? What did I do wrong? I kept the two directories (jtag-0.5.1 and include-0.4.2) separate. Am I supposed to replace the include folder in jtag-0.5.1 with the include-0.4.2? Another question: When I "./configure" in the jtag-0.5.1 folder, am supposed to type "./configure --with-include=PATH", where PATH is the path of include-0.4.2? I tried this out but still I experience the same problem on top. Please help! My professor is shouting at me! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Marcel Telka (telka) Date: 2011-07-08 23:28 Message: The openwince project is no longer active. Our host is telling you that it was indeed fixed in the one inside CVS. Instructions for retrieving it are found on the tab for code and then select CVS. Select as module the jtag one. You can either use it, or copy over the relevant files into the directory where you see the complaint. The idea is to do the retrieval into a new and empty directory. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Zhenghao (talltk) Date: 2008-01-12 07:03 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1974104 Originator: YES Hi, thanks for the help. As mentioned in 4th line of my original posting, I did "./configure && make && make install" in the include-0.4.2 directory first, and it worked out fine. The only problem comes when i do the same for the jtag-0.5.1. Do you know how to fix the CVS? I am absolutely clueless about CVS. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Kolja Waschk (kawk) Date: 2008-01-11 20:59 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=478715 Originator: NO Hi, you're supposed to do a "./configure && make && make install" in the include-0.4.2 directory first. The include kit, typically the 0.4.2 one for Cygwin, but CVS is also a good idea if you've done anything to the code after extraction from the JTAG tarball, needs to be extracted outside of the JTAG tarball. You then do the configure and make install steps for it. Following that you will be able to build the JTAG kit. ---- GCL ( mas...@us... ) ( gre...@gm... ) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=469851&aid=1825123&group_id=52603 |

Category: None Group: Next Release (example) >Status: Closed Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Richard Rauch (rkrolib) Assigned to: Marcel Telka (telka) Summary: GLUT library? Initial Comment: Hi. I'm an OpenGLUT developer (and one of the two founding project admins). OpenGLUT is an evolution of the OpenGL Utility Toolkit (GLUT) API. Around February of 2004, OpenGLUT forked from freeglut, a more conservative, drop-in-replacement-for-GLUT. At about the same time, someone contributed patches to make freeglut compile on/for WINCE. (Those changes should appear in the next freeglut release.) (OpenGLUT and freeglut are both SourceForge projects. freeglut variously calls itself "freeglut" and "FreeGLUT"; old GLUT always called itself "GLUT", and OpenGLUT (almost) always calls itself "OpenGLUT. Old GLUT was never properly open sourced, though it is freely available and runs on UNIX and WIN32 systems.) OpenGLUT decided to import those WINCE changes, and I did the work. Initially, it probably worked, but no one tested it as far as I know. Since that time, OpenGLUT has evolved a bit further, and I felt that some of the WINCE support changes should be redone; not being able to test the WINCE code, doubting that it compiles cleanly, and feeling that the changes were a bit hackish as they were, I retracted some changes. But if someone had a working WINCE development system and was willing to port/build/test OpenGLUT for WINCE, I think that would be a good thing. I know I speak for at least half of the OpenGLUT administrators on that point! Alternatively, if you can point to some free tools for building WINCE code, I would be willing to at least try to make OpenGLUT compile with those WINCE tools. (I do not have any WINCE systems. I have several UNIX-like systems and one system booting MS-WINDOWS '98.) Thanks for your time. I hope that you'll consider this. Whether or not you take up the task of helping us port and maintain OpenGLUT to WINCE, I imagine that you'll agree that it would be nice if OpenGLUT "just worked" on WINCE. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Marcel Telka (telka) Date: 2011-07-08 23:22 Message: The openwince project is no longer active. But it is long and requires hardware support. There are a few more details needed, but here is the process in general: First use discovery to find IR length and DR length for 'all 0' instruction (assuming it is extest, the register is BSR). Then push 1 to all pins of the processor (except for VCC, GND and JTAG pins) and read the BSR. Then push 0 to all pins and read the BSR. This will tell you which bits of the BSR are input bits. Now you can start flipping each pin and seeing which bit it affects in the BSR. The remaining bits are either control or output bits. For each pair of remaining bits, you set all 4 possible values, and see the output on all pins. If the pair is really a control and output of the same pin, you should see the pin changing. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Marcel Telka (telka) Date: 2003-07-23 09:47 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=395402 AFAIK, the required documentation is not available to the public. Category: None Group: None Status: Open Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Marek Michalkiewicz (marekm) >Assigned to: Marcel Telka (telka) Summary: EJTAG 2.0 for RTL8181 Initial Comment: Is anyone considering adding support for EJTAG 2.0 (at least basic flash read/write functionality, no debugging etc.) to openwince-jtag? It would help hacking RTL8181-based WLAN devices more safely (see http://rtl8181.sourceforge.net/) - normally there is a bootloader in the flash (Ethernet+serial connections needed), but if something ever goes wrong while flashing, you have to use JTAG or unsolder the TSOP flash chip - if you have a programmer with such a socket... It's the MIPS EJTAG 2.0 specification (not the later 2.5), and I couldn't find any free tools for it - just proprietary ones... Thanks, Marek ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Oleg (olegi) Date: 2006-01-22 23:51 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1433140 could you provide diff file or point another files was changed? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Marek Michalkiewicz (marekm) Date: 2005-12-28 19:59 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=38847 I've just released a modified version of openwince-jtag from CVS - see http://www.amelek.gda.pl/rtl8181/jtag/ . Well tested with RTL8181; read-only tested with RTL8186, ADM5120 and AR2312 (need volunteers with bricked boxes). Unfortunately, it needed more changes than simply adding a new "ejtag" bus driver. Most important is a workaround in libbrux/flash/amd.c (amdstatus) for toggle bits not toggling (instead of checking toggle bits, it now checks for reading the correct data twice in a row). It seems that at least the RTL8181 doesn't deassert flash CE/OE between repeated reads from the same address (without any other mamory access in between) - data changes (more and more bits read as 1 during erase) but Q6/Q2 don't toggle. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: alec_v (alec_v) Date: 2005-09-11 20:14 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1341419 MIPS EJTAG publication is available at the MIPS site. You need a ~free~ registration to download it. This publication is a mix of the v 2.0, 2.5 and 2.6. All of this versions is a slightly different. However, all of the EJTAG- compatible devices has IR length=5 and all of them has a IMPCODE instruction (00011). It is possible to get a precise EJTAG version through this instruction. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: alec_v (alec_v) Date: 2005-09-10 22:56 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1341419 Some expirements with JTAG on the RTL8181: http://www.wireless.org.au/~jhecker/rtljtag/ ManufID: 6 PartNumber: 5280 This SoC is based on the Lexra 5280 core, hence part number. I've heard from vendors there is a lot of differences in implementations of EJTAG from vendor to vendor and core to core. IIRC, MIPS EJTAG has two modes, one is "DMA" mode where the JTAG can cause cpu bus cycles directly, the other is where the jtag interface is used to respond to cpu memory accesses in a special range of memory and you have to write little bits of MIPS code to do what you want and emulate that memory on the host side. The DMA mode is optional and not as widely supported as the normal mode. As for code, there is some ejtag code in the bcm1250 bus driver that's commented out in jtag-0.5x, but I have no idea whether it would run on a lexra mips core. There's also some old ejtag patches to gdb for a philips mips core floating around on sourceforge. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Marcel Telka (telka) Date: 2004-11-30 23:06 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=395402 You? :-) Is the specification available somewhere on the net? Category: None Group: Next Release (example) Status: Open Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Richard Rauch (rkrolib) >Assigned to: Marcel Telka (telka) Summary: GLUT library? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=469853&aid=1025429&group_id=52603 |

I assume it is possible to drive JTAG lines via GPIO pins, but am new at this. I don't see a driver for this in the openwince software. Does anyone know of code for this? Thanks. Lew |

http://www.section5.ch/ _____ From: ope...@li... [mailto:ope...@li...] On Behalf Of Matthew Barousse Sent: 04 September 2008 20:13 To: ope...@li... Subject: [openwince-list] JTAG Programmer and Analog Device's Blackfin MCU Hey everyone. I'm having a hard time finding information, so I'm just asking around on a few lists. I really hope someone can get me pointed in the right direction, or lend some information. I'm working on a team at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette building a small satellite. My project is the communications subsystem, which will be an SDR powered by a Blackfin MCU. We're at the development stage, and are having a hard time finding a cheap, compatible JTAG programmer, and a means to flash our soon-to-be development board. We want to run native code on the MCU. Does anyone have experience programing these, or know of a compatible JTAG programmer that will run with JTAG tools.. or any other slightly cheap alternative? The device we are using is the ADSP-BF537 and we have the STAMP development board, running uC linux. We would like to develop our own kernel, though, and can't seem to find a cheap way to flash it. For now we can use Das U-Boot on the development board, but when we switch to our own board, we're going to run into a brick wall. I'd like to steer clear of the $3,000+ programmers/software, but if they are the only option we have, we'll just have to go with one of those. Any information anyone has would be amazing. Thanks for your time. Matthew Barousse http://ulcape.org/ _____ This email has been scanned by Netintelligence http://www.netintelligence.com/email _____ |
