Yes, creating directories on the fly fixes part of this problem. The "add problem to" feature addresses something else. But, a reasonable question is whether there should be more file manager type operations available when doing a save as. One possibility would be to have the "save as" become "save as ..." with no entry spot for the new name. Clicking on it brings up a file manager type screen when you can see existing directories and navigate to where you want the file to go.
