In OpenVRML, that would look something like: openvrml::sftime_listener starttime_listener = n->event_listener<openvrml::sftime>("startTime"); openvrml::sftime now(current_time); starttime_listener.process_event(now, now.value()); -- Braden McDaniel <br...@en...> |

Hello everyone, I've been working on a project using the ARToolkit example which uses openVRML, however I seem unable to control when the animations start. Is there a way to reset the timers on call? Or perhaps is another method to achieve the same goal? I asked this question in the ARToolkit forum, and they suggested that I try this mailing list instead. If anyone can help, I would be greatly appreciative. If I have posted twice, I apologize. I seemed to have needed to register first. Thanks! It sounds like perhaps you don't have an event loop. OpenVRML doesn't provide you with such a loop; you need to drive it from one you provide. Have a look at how this works in the sdl-viewer example; especially sdl_viewer::run and update_timer_callback. -- Braden McDaniel e-mail: <br...@en...> <http://endoframe.com> Jabber: <br...@ja...> |

Hi all I'm new to OpenVRML (actually I'm even new to VRML at all.) I created a sub-class of openvrml::gl::viewer in C++ with the required functions: post_dedraw, set_cursor, swap_buffers and set_timer. I also created an openvrml::browser and did the correct binding between the viewer and the brower. The first three functions seem to work as expected, and I have no problem viewing still scenes. Now I'm trying to display an animated scene. I created a VRML file that I load with myBrower->load_url. The problem is, the function set_timer in the viewer is never called. I suppose that I forgot to do something somewhere, either in the VRML file or in the C++ code. Does anyone have any idea about what I did wrong? Thanks in advance! Hi, I would like to use OpenVRML version 0.14.3 to extract lists of vertices and faces from VRML files. Can someone provide some pointers on how to do this? I need to use the older version 0.14.3 due to the Boost requirement of later versions. Ideally, I need a list of vertices as a float array. With the values like this: X Y Z X Y Z ... Then the faces array is an array of 0 based indexes into this array, with 3 indexes for each face. My most recent commit makes good on this threat. I moved the parser instantiations to src/libopenvrml/openvrml/local/parse_vrml.cpp. The parse actions classes were the biggest chunk of code directly involved here; they're now in src/libopenvrml/openvrml/local/parse_vrml.h. This means the most expensive-to-compile file is now parse_vrml.cpp; what's left of browser.cpp should be pretty trivial. On my machine, parse_vrml.cpp's high water mark in memory seems to be somewhere between 900 MB and 1 GB. I think this means that OpenVRML should compile comfortably in a non-parallel build on 64-bit machines with at least 2 GB of memory; and on 32-bit machines with at least 1 GB of memory. For machines with more memory, OpenVRML's build will parallelize pretty nicely. I think the above minimums are pretty reasonable. So I'm inclined to consider this pursuit done unless another problem emerges. -- Braden McDaniel e-mail: <br...@en...> <http://endoframe.com> Jabber: <br...@ja...> |

If you've been following SourceForge activity at all, you've probably noticed that after allowing the service's feature set to languish for some years, the developers have made many tangible improvements to the site over the last several months. One of the most significant of these is what they call "hosted apps". This makes some popular open source Web-based tools available for use by SourceForge projects. And one of the hosted apps now available is the popular "trac" project management tool. Now, I think most would agree that SourceForge's "trackers" (what it calls its bug/patch/etc. reporting and management facility) kind of suck. They're missing many features common to modern tools in this space; and the improvements SourceForge is making to this service (the "Tracker Beta" you can opt into on the site) are, IMO, quite modest. So, I am seriously considering migrating bug and task tracking to trac. I've already enabled trac as a hosted app for OpenVRML. trac also includes a wiki; and to familiarize myself with what it can do I've started migrating Zack Smith's Windows build instructions to there: <https://apps.sourceforge.net/trac/openvrml/wiki/BuildOpenvrmlOnWindows> I've made several updates to its text for consistency with what's on the trunk now; but it still needs some more work. If anyone has other ideas for good wiki topics, please chime in. Anyway, I thought I'd let folks know this is probably coming. Anyone who wants to tell me why migrating to trac is a horrible idea, please speak up. -- Braden McDaniel e-mail: <br...@en...> <http://endoframe.com> Jabber: <br...@ja...> |

Hi, actually I am building an application to show vrml files with openGL in a MFC project (Windows, c++). After downloading openvrml-0.17.10.tar.gz I tried to run the project for Visual C++ 2008 but after including several libraries (freetype-2.3.8, libpng-1.2.35, boost_1_35_0), eliminating their errors, happen: LINK : fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file '..\..\lib\.lib' ...and I do not know how to solve this. Can anyone help me? Thanks. _________________________________________________________________ Descubre cómo compartir tus fotos con Windows Live. ¡Pruébalo ya! http://home.live.com/ |

Fatherhood and work have had me quite busy lately; but I've started to have a bit of time to work on OpenVRML again. Specifically, I've been working on a fix for bug 2201630. This has required some substantial rearchitecture of openvrml-xembed. At this point I seem to have things basically up and running with the new design (which puts the D-Bus interaction in a background thread). It needs a bit more testing before I commit it; but hopefully it will be done in the next few days. After that, I'm going to see if bug 2271029 can be fixed in a way that remains compatible with Boost 1.34.1. I want to keep the 0.17.x series building with Boost 1.34.1. Once that's resolved, I intend to release 0.17.11. -- Braden McDaniel e-mail: <br...@en...> <http://endoframe.com> Jabber: <br...@ja...> |
