[openvrml-develop] build openVRML without MS VC?

Hello.

I tried for hours now, to build for Windows with cygwin or MinGW.
The ./configure seems to have many true-linux based aspects I guess.. 
For example pkg-config is rather useless as most libs I have to pick up 
as bare tarballs.

Has anyone succeed with a build on cygwin / MinGW?
Or is MS VC the only pratical way?

Those configure scripts are just to long to inverstigate entirely..
