When running in win 10 the system try app starts, but when clicking on the
icon, a black bar appears just above the sys tray. That's it. nothing else
happens. Screenshot attached
The first thing you need to check is if the "OpenVPNUIHostService" is running. If it is not then start it. Hopefully this will solve the issue for you.
Hope that helps!

OpenVPNUIHostService is already running (set to automatic). No difference - all i get is the black bar shown in the screenshot which looks (when i move my taskbar) to be the top of a dialogue window with a drop shadow. As there's no left click options in the taskbar icon other than about and exit, i can't get the client to connect either. the about box displays properly, until you attempt to close it, then it leaves artifacts on the screen
Tried it on two different windows 10 machines - one upgraded from a lenovo build, the other upgraded form a Dell build

Same problem here. In Windows 10, the "main window" of this application does not appear correctly. Tried using 'compatibility options' as well already.
Now... How do I uninstall !?
Edit: (Hopefully you didn't delete the installer. Re-run it. Kill the two running processes that are mentioned by it and the removal should succeed.)

I'm sure how this very old build will behave on Windows 10. You should be able to uninstall it from programme and features but if that doesn't work you will need to manually remove the services and delete the files.
Thanks for adding the GitHub link to the Home (Summary) page.
The latest release from the GitHub site (ver 1.0.0.8) did not work any better on Windows 10.
Also when it is installed, in the About screen, it shows version number as 1.0.8.0 (?) and still references the Sourceforge page rather than the GitHub page.
Also, this site (https://community.openvpn.net/openvpn/wiki/RelatedProjects) still links to Sourcefourge.
