It seems a problem with the encoding of the e-mail. Please check what character encoding the client program is using to display the message (i.e. in Thunderbird: Options -> Character encoding" This should be utf-8 (afair), but probably is using iso-8559 Hmm, looking more deeply in the email template I see that the character encoding is fixed to iso-8559-1. Try changing the templates/plugins/email/notify.tpl Change lines: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8559-1" and Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8559-1" to Content-Type: text/plain; charset="utf-8" and Content-Type: text/html; charset="utf-8" to put it more simple replace all iso-8559-1 to utf-8 in the file. :) I should get the language encoding, but have no time now to look at what it should be set to. Hi, I have checked the code, but in no place (except for the template) the string gets html escaped, so probably is php, the mail function or even the email client/server, which does this. On my system (linux / apache / php / postfix) / ( thunderbird / squirrelmail ) the message and subject are correct, if I use roundcube the problem is there, (not with html escaped characters though). Imho, the solution whould be to use an escape function at least on the subject. Put this in the lib/general.inc.php line 240 (before the comment /* generate a boundary */ ) $subject = '=?UTF-8?B?'.base64_encode($subject).'?='; This encodes the subject to UTF8 which should solve your problem with strange characters in the subject. Alessandro P.S. This is not really a solution, as it should be applied only on e-mails really containing the incriminated characters. (I think all decent email clients do support this.) What is bugging me is that you are somehow the subject gets changed to html code. Maybe using html_entity_decode in conjunction with the previous changes to make the subject be utf-8 solves the problem... Try changing the previous modified line with: $subject = '=?UTF-8?B?'.base64_encode(html_entity_decode($subject)).'?='; Let me know. Alessandro |
