As it's implemented now the DB modules don't cope with joins well. I'll probably will be changing/extending the current implementation in the next release which should make db query more versatile, and change the txtdb to something like galdius. Probably will change some db structures too. > - provide a dialog to chnage the file ownership once the first part is completed, this should not be so difficult > - add an expiration date to a useraccount (possibly with a default timespan > from the group) This should be easily implemented with a plugin and using the "active" field. Hey Alessandro, Thank you for the suggestion, although I didn't find it a viable alternative. I have been looking around for alternatives, prior to sending my question. I've just finished looking around some more and I remain convinced that OpenUpload is the way to go. It has support for multiple users and roles, file upload and also important: it's user friendly. Uless I can find the perfect solution I see three options before me: - writing it myself - configuring some full blown cms to do it - making (minimal) changes to OpenUpload to accomodate for what I'd like to accomplish I absolutely prefer the last option, it seems to most cost effective. Also, the way I configured my test install, a particular user group can't do anything except login. This is due to the fact that that group doesn't have upload rights. So no one can actually add files to those user accounts. I think the features I'm proposing would add valuable features to OpenUpload. I'll be looking over the code some more, the next few days. I should be able to find out how I should accomplish my goals, although it would be nice if you could give me some pointers where to look. If I can convince you to include my changes in a next release, I'd be happy to contribute. So the two (ok, three by now) additions I'm looking for are: - make a group the owner of a file - provide a dialog to chnage the file ownership - add an expiration date to a useraccount (possibly with a default timespan from the group) jochen |

Hi Jochen, the files like are handled right now are on a user only basis. No group information is stored in the file, only the uploading user. This will probably make it a little too dificult to implement. Probably looking for something else would be faster :) i.e. http://sourceforge.net/projects/filelist/ (last release is 3 years old, but you could search something like that) It seems to do something like what your customer wants. Basically he wants a WEB ftp-like app which openupload is not really suited. Hi there, A customer of ours wants to keep a collection of files online for his customers. He wants to give out login/password combos his customers so they can access the files for a specific duration. Additionally he wants to offer other customers the possibility to upload files that he can process and send those back. It's clear to me that Open Upload has everything to set this up, although I have the impression (through randomly clicking through the administration screens) that it won't do what our customer wants out of the box. So, basically what I want is to be able to assign files to a group, so that members of that group will see that file listed and can download it. A quick browse through the code revealed that group access to a file is checked somewhere, but I can't find a screen to change the actual user/group ownership of that file. I can code changes/modules/plugins myself in php, I'd just like some direction where and what changes I should make to get this to work. Obviously, I'll commit the changes/additions back to the project. jochen |

Ok, now in svn version there is the user file list option. Will be in v0.4 If upgrading from previous versions please check the security for unregistered users on action "l" (file listing) Don't think the "Public files" is needed by anyone... Now in svn version (will be in v0.4) has been implemented the file removal protection feature. It can be globally disabled with option: $CONFIG['allow_unprotected_removal'] = 'yes'; Alessandro Peter Velan ha scritto: > am 05.02.2009 17:33 schrieb Alessandro Briosi: >> Right now the remove link if launched in the browser it displays >> directly the confirm button to delete the file. >> >> Do you think that it would be better to apply the same security a user >> choose for the "download" to the "remove". > > Yes, the delete link should be protected with the the same security > procedure as the download link. > > Peter > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Create and Deploy Rich Internet Apps outside the browser with Adobe(R)AIR(TM) > software. Hi list, I have found a nasty bug in the version 0.4beta1 which I fixed with this release. Bug #2573950: Security bug for multiple files upload -------------------------------------------- When uploading more than 1 files the security options to download the additional files are not respected. So if i get a download link like ?action=d&id=1234 accessing the additional files like ?action=d&id=1234_1 does not respect security and allows direct download of the file. ---------------------------------------------- Other minor bug fixed: #2516440: undefined mysqlDB::close #2507419: wrong display - admingroups Everybody using v0.4beta1 is advised to update. Ciao, Alessandro |

Yes, the delete link should be protected with the the same security procedure as the download link. Peter |

Hi all, I have a question to the users of Open Upload. Right now the remove link if launched in the browser it displays directly the confirm button to delete the file. Do you think that it would be better to apply the same security a user choose for the "download" to the "remove". i.e. If I choose to password protect the file download, should I be asked the password for the file removal? Same thing for the captcha or any other protection I choose. Ciao, Alessandro |

Hi Michael, for the e-mail probably you should check your php installation as Open Upload uses the "mail" function provided by php. As of a list of files uploaded by the user it is not implemented. And I'm not sure it's really needed. If you are interested in it please fill in a Feature request [1] so I won't forget it :) Alessandro [1] http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?atid=1117807&group_id=242018&func=browse Michael Mansour ha scritto: > Hi, > > I've just started using/testing openupload. Hi, I've just started using/testing openupload. I'm using the latest 0.4beta1. I uploaded a file, added the email address to send to, and when uploading was provided with upload URL and upload/remove URL. I never received the email telling me about the file was present. I also wonder how, as a user, can I list my uploaded files? I can see the list as the admin user, but when logged in as a normal user, all I can do is upload more files and see my preferences. Any help/advice/comments are appreciated. Michael. |

Hi Harald, I have found a machine with php 4.2 and it is an incompatibility with it. it does not like the app()-> notation using $application->run(..) solves the problem there, but as this code is repeated a lot I'd say that php4.x is not supported. Also the txtdb won't work as php4 misses file_put_contents... I might consider making it work if badly needed on php4. Isn't there any repository for suse 9 to upgrade php? Alessandro P.S. Please also consider that the txtdb is not a good solution for production :) > I double-checked the config file, but didnt find anythin. It defenatly works on php5 (haven't tryed Suse specific, but centos 4 / 5, fedora and ubuntu/debian flavors do work) It could also be a configuration error... Hi Alessandro, It would be nice to know. Its an SuSE SLES9 Server. Soon or later we will upgrade it. If this only works on php5, it might get upgraded even sooner. Hi Harald, actually your installation seems a pretty old linux distro :) I'm not even sure it would work with php < version 5.x line 59 in index.php is: app()->run($action,$step); which does not seem to contain any error. Imho could be a class incompatibility with php4, but I haven't got any instalation which has php4 (and apache 1.3) at hand. If somebody else could test but I would say that php4 is not supported anymore... I might try to help you debug the 0.4beta1 version to check if this is the case... I followed the install instruction, but all I'm getting is this on the website Parse error: parse error in /srv/www/htdocs/openupload/www/index.php on line 59 Could someone give me a hint what could be wrong there? I tried both version 0.3c and 0.4beta1. Thanks in advance, Regards Harald |

Hello Hajek, Thanks for the report, though I'm not really sure that this patch is correct, as it sets all contents to be binary and application/octet-stream I'll do a few tests with IE7 and SSL enabled to verity. Alessandro P.S. I had to approve your message as it was posted by a non ML member.
