First of all, I see that the pace of development has quickened, going by the timeline: http://www.opensync.org/timeline So, congratulations on resuming regular development! I have seen the Device Compatibility List but I understand it to be outdated, refer to an old branch (0.2x) and unmaintained. Therefore I ask: My mobile provider is giving me the oportunity to upgrade to one of the following devices: Nokia n85 Nokia n97 Sony-Erickson w995 I need to sync contacts and calendar with the KDE-PIM suite (KDE 4.4 soon, with the new Kaddressbook and Akonadi). The language is not ascii based, so it will need to support unicode characters. Which device is preferable for syncing? I can wait a few weeks for the 0.4x branch to stabilize, but I must know which device is preferable. Thanks. An aside: if anybody here owns the N85 or N97 I would like to ask some questions about the phone off-list. Please contact me off-list if I can bother you with some questions. Thanks. -- Dotan Cohen http://what-is-what.com http://gibberish.co.il Please CC me if you want to be sure that I read your message. I do not read all list mail. |

It is probably relatively easy to get it fixed again, but a few weeks ago people assured me that it is broken so far. So you should check into that question, which is independ of the phone. I've tried the following libraries from opensync: libwbxml-0.10.7 libsyncml-0.5.4 and was successful to export my contacts once, as reported to this list in November. > An aside: if anybody here owns the N85 or N97 I would like to ask some > questions about the phone off-list. So it really depends on the questions if I can help, because my time is very limited, but you can try and I see what I can answer. But as a opensync developer and my kde-pim related job I am really sure that there will be a akonadi and N900 sync plugin in some month. It only depends on my workload and the free time that I can spend on OpenSync. If anybody else is interested in developing a akonadi plugin the OpenSync team would be glad to help of course too. |

I know USD $20 is not much and in no way do I mean to imply that it would be to pay for coding time. Rather, I mean it as a way of saying thanks for the work that you are doing for the community. Actually, I think that I did once donate to Opensync some years ago. After that was the reason that I started only donating to projects with useful code! -- Dotan Cohen http://what-is-what.com http://gibberish.co.il Please CC me if you want to be sure that I read your message. I have some programming knowledge(university knowledge, not real world's :S) and I would love to help. I could also help by testing with my N900 ;) Cheers, Damnshock |

I haven't tested that yet but because the N900 uses eds as storage backend for e.g. contacts it should already be possible to use the evo-sync plugin. I did take a look at the N900 api some days ago and it should be possible to use the eds api directly without the libosso-abook wrapper. If you are going to try it please send some feedback to the list. regards Bjoern 2010/2/24 Marc Deop i Argemí <dam...@gm...> > On Sunday 07 February 2010 21:58:48 Bjoern Ricks wrote: > > I guess it depends more on the OpenSync team because to most KDE > > developers aren't satisfied with opensync.
