Hello List, Looking at OpenSync, as SynCE does not work in Debian. I can connect and get status etc, but when I try and copy a file either way, it murders the ppp0 device every time. No one has this problem on the SynCE mailing list, and nothing in Google Groups about this, so I've given up. I hear that OpenSync will be the standard in KDE4. Is it operational enough yet to sync WM2003SE contacts, calendar, etc to Kontact? Best, Bill Southwell |

Hi, what exactly do you have connected on ppp0 that gets "murdered"? Does the problem always appear during a special phase of the sync (connecting, disconnecting etc) or when some contact or calendar entry is transmitted? Does the problem also appear when no entry is transfered at all? Is it operational = enough yet to sync WM2003SE contacts, calendar, etc to Kontact? I havent tried yet, so I cannot make any statements about this. I guess that kontact will be the smaller problem, since it is open source. When my iPaq 4700 is connected and communicating with the notebook over USB, I can get status and everything seems fine, until I try and copy a file in either direction... using either rapip in Konq, or synce-pcp. The copy goes for about five seconds, and then raki on the notebook disconnects. Reason is, the ppp0 device got murdered. Watching this with Ethereal, there are several retransmissions (comm failures) before the disconnect, and then BAM. Syslog only says: pppd[4275]: LCP terminated by peer pppd[4275]: Connect time 2.1 minutes. pppd[4275]: Sent 5952 bytes, received 2654 bytes. pppd[4275]: Hangup (SIGHUP) pppd[4275]: Modem hangup pppd[4275]: Connection terminated. kernel: usb 1-1: USB disconnect, address 2 kernel: ipaq 1-1:1.0: device disconnected pppd[4275]: Exit. kernel: ipaq ttyUSB0: PocketPC PDA converter now disconnected from ttyUSB0 No password is set for the iPaq in Settings|Password. Haven't dared attempt a sync. No idea what's wrong. |

Why the Hell did you ask me this Armin, if you were not going to help?
