my device is a pocket pc (HP Jornada 540 Series, SHx SH3 Processor. MS Windows CE Version 3.0.9348 (Build 9357) (c) 1996-1999 Microsoft Corp). I'll look into subversion. Thanks. |

hi, this depends on which device you plan to synchronize. But the best option is subversion for now, since there are some bug fixes in the repository which you might want to use. Hello, I'm looking to download and install a package from http://www.opensync.org/wiki/download. Packages are available as source tarballs, debian packages, or as "subversion." which kind should i get? The newest debian is called libopensync_0.14-1_i386.deb and the newest source tarball is libopensync-0.17.tar.gz. Should i go for the .17.tar.gz source, or go with the easier to install but older debian? I use ubuntu breezy (ubuntu 5.10) linux. |

One thing i added is support for parsing syncml 1.0 version info. So what has to be done now is to go through the parser and look for things that were different in syncml 1.0 and then change this in the parser. im working on the libsyncml-threaded branch in the libsyncml repository. Maybe the best way to help would be to get example message of syncml 1.0 communication with the phone and feed it to a syncml session for testing in check_session.c If you have further question, you can either ask me via mail or on irc: #opensync irc.freenode.net Armin > Thanks -- Till |

Hi, i tried to compile multisync-0.90.14 against libopensync-0.17, but that gave me a lot of problems. (like MSyncMemberUpdate did become OSyncMemberUpdate etc). I saw most of this stuff is fixed in svn. Is it possible to release a new multisync version, that at least compiles agains the latest release version of libopensync? Or are there reasons for not doing this? Regards, Pierre Cassimans |

Help is appreciated :) In my suggestion is wellcome: before implementing, do investigate thoroughly which options you have for mailbox access. Mailsync is based on the c-client library and allthough there seem to be very professional people building on top of that library it is beyond me how they find out about the semantics details of the API of that library - me personaly I had trouble with whatever docu I could find about it. There are other libraries for the same task but I haven't ever studied them in depth. *t -- -------------------------------------------------------- Tomas Pospisek http://sourcepole.com - Linux & Open Source Solutions -------------------------------------------------------- |

Hi everybody, I just checked out all the libraries and tools required to sync my SyncML speaking phone (Sony Ericsson P910i). Everything's working fine except that my P910i speaks SyncML/1.0 only whereas libsyncml offers versions 1.1 and 1.2. :-) I'd be ready to look into the code and try to start adding SyncML/1.0 to libsyncml since I'd really like my phone to sync with kontact. Before I do so, however, I would like to know if there's anybody working in this direction already. Hi I've been using mailsync-5.2.1 to keep my mail folders on my laptop and desktop in sync. It's been working perfectly and plays an important role in my work. Unfortunately, I've had to switch to evolution as my mail client (I used vm under emacs before) and have had trouble keeping things in sync. From what I can tell, evolution uses a standard unix mailbox format and mailsync DOES sync the files properly; the problem is that various index files under evolution aren't synced which causes evolution to complain when it's run (e.g., it says it can't save the mail folder even "after a sync", whatever that means). I've found that running a program called multisync (from opensync) somehow restores the indices, even though it DOESN'T sync the mail folders. Any idea what/how to rebuild evolution's indices (if indeed that is the problem); 2) if so, could this be automated into mailsync? 3) Any chance of you building an opensync mailsync plugin? Finally, on an different topic, a feature request. My mail files are huge and I compress them with bzip2. Any chance that you could add compressed read/write support into mailsync? Thanks in advance. Hi, first of all, nice work ! I'm working on a gentoo distribution and would like to write some ebuilds for opensync to fit in the portage system (gentoo's package management system). For that i have to download the source code of the project. Problem is i can't get them from a trac site if they are attached as a download file. I saw you putted the libopensync-0.17.tar.gz and multisync-0.90.14.tar.gz on the sourceforge sites. That is exactly what i needed :) . But is it possible to put the plugins sources there too? That would be realy great. Kind regards, Pierre Cassimans |

Hi, I'm still trying to synchronize between my Mio (Windows CE) and Evolution 2, while trying to get the calendar to sync via Mirkuz's code, and building file synchronisation at the same time. Not all of that is working well yet :-) I'm now trying to isolate the problem. I've not synced files, but synced only calendar entries. My agenda is in use, I have about 600 files in the directory after syncing with file-sync (see below). Here's what I tried : 1. Between SynCE and Evolution2 Syncing begins, but after a while some timeout appears to happen : dell: {2} msynctool --sync cal-f --conflict n Synchronizing group "cal-f"=20 Member 2 of type file-sync just connected Member 1 of type synce-plugin just connected All clients connected or error Member 2 of type file-sync just sent all changes Member 1 of type synce-plugin had an error while getting changes: Timeout while waiting for a reply to message "GET_CHANGES" Member 2 of type file-sync just disconnected Member 1 of type synce-plugin just disconnected All clients have disconnected The sync failed: Unable to read from one of the members 2. Between SynCE and file-sync As I said this produces about 600 files. 3. Between file-sync and evolution (using the directory from #2 for the file-sync) - after a while this works, but there are uncomfortable periods with no apparent activity in the session. Two questions : a. is it a good idea to do the #2 and #3 of this scenario with a common directory, or will opensync do strange things with that ? b. (dumb question) how to proceed with this - I'm not sure I know of a sensible way to debug this, and I need bright ideas. I'm looking for a regular cellphone (no smart phone), either a Nokia or an Ericsson that syncs reliably under opensync/multisync over bluetooth. I don't need an integrated camera, mp3-player. Just the regular phone stuff. I'm primarily interested in syncing my address book. On the computer side I'd like to use a conduit that uses plain text as a back end, so that I can edit/search my address book from the command line. What are your recommendations? -- Alex Polite http://flosspick.org - finding the right open source |
