Hi Chris, Thanks for the reply. Yes, I'm using libopensync1exp7 from the Ubuntu repositories. I've been worried about the low level of activity on opensync and wondering why? If the project is still alive and well I'd like to sync both contacts and events/calendar with KAddressBook and KOrganizer under Kontact. So if this is a realistic objective, yes please, fire away - stepping me through compiling from source. Thank you. Hi Peter, Are you running libopensync1exp7 from the Ubuntu repositories? Or have you compiled from source? The libopensync1exp7 packages are pretty old, unfortunately. If you are interested in compiling from source, I can step you through it. - Chris On Sat, Feb 18, 2012 at 04:25:35PM +0000, Peter Hargreaves wrote: > Hi Folks, > > Could someone help please? Hi Folks, Could someone help please? I'm trying to sync my Nokia 2630 to files on my Dell Vostro 460mt running Kubuntu Oneiric. When I run osynctool --sync on my nokiasync group, it appears to run successfully, retrieving my Nokia contacts to my PC, however it ends with the message "ERROR: Unable to find engine which can handle objtype data". When I next run 'osynctool --sync nokiasync' I get a message "Main sink of member 1 of type file-sync had an error: Unable to find engine which can handle objtype data" before aborting. I think I had it working at one point but then it screwed up, so I reinstalled as follows: Installed packages: opensync-format-vformat opensync-plugin-files opensync-plugin-syncml osynctool peter@dv-460mt:~$ rmdir -r ~/.opensync peter@dv-460mt:~$ rmdir -r ~/nokiasync peter@dv-460mt:~$ mkdir ~/nokiasync peter@dv-460mt:~$ osynctool --addgroup nokiasync peter@dv-460mt:~$ osynctool --addmember nokiasync file-sync peter@dv-460mt:~$ osynctool --addmember nokiasync syncml-obex-client peter@dv-460mt:~$ osynctool --configure nokiasync 1 <?xml version="1.0"?> <config version="1.0"> <Resources> <Resource> <Enabled>1</Enabled> <Formats> <Format> <Name>file</Name> </Format> <Preferred>vcard30</Preferred> </Formats> <ObjType>contact</ObjType> <Path>/home/peter/nokiasync</Path> </Resource> </Resources> </config> peter@dv-460mt:~$ hcitool scan Scanning ... 00:24:03:1C:64:E6 Nokia 2630 peter@dv-460mt:~$ sdptool browse 00:24:03:1C:64:E6 ... Hi, the missing wbxml_config.h is usually a result of a missing cmake run. I don't use MS Windows. So I can just apply patches from Windows users/developers. Actually there is no active ticket which reports a missing file. I never touched the stuff in the directory win32/. So I don't know if I can simply remove the directory or if I have to repair it. Best regards Michael P.S. Sorry for my very late response but libwbxml is today just a hobby. Yes, this is fine, since it is the LGPL involved, not the GPL. If you use libwbxml as a DLL only, then yes, I don't think there is any further burden on you. As long as the end user has the ability to replace that DLL with a new one of the same API, and have your software work, that's fine. If you use libwbxml in a static manner (linking it into the end EXE), then you also need to provide the .obj files (not the source code) of your proprietary program, so that the end user can replace the libwbxml .obj file, and relink to create a new working EXE. The basic goal being to preserve the usefulness of the libwbxml source code in your final product, for your end uesr, so that he can modify it freely, regardless of what it is linked to. I'm not a lawyer, but I'm fairly sure about this. :-) The FSF also has FAQ's that may be of use to you. Hope this helps, - Chris |

Hi, My question is related to LGPL licensing of libwbxml-0.11.0. I got the source of libwbxml-0.11.0 but found it won't compile on Windows using Visual C++ 6 (missing wbxml_config.h). I'd like to modify the source and make it compile, then use it in the commercial software in a dynamic-link manner(DLL). This proprietary is an email client with ActiveSync capability. My concern is that as it's bounded by LGPL, may I keep the commercial software code proprietary, while using a modified libwbxml-0.11.0 ? My modification is just to make it compile, but not to modify the internal of libwbxml. Is this a case prohibited by LGPL, a close source commercial software dynamic links to a modified version of LGPL software? Thanks! *Weiming* |

Hi, Could you please tell me that in libsyncml library email and mms synchronization support is there or not? I mailed to nokia technical support too regarding email synchronization and according to them their phone don't support local email synchronization. So I just want to know that code support is there in library for email and mms syncronizatiion? For mms I am able to get data on hcidump, but after that it shows there is some error in data parsing,no end of data found. I am testing with Nokia N8,5233. Hi, I am using syncml-ds-tool which is there in libsyncml library. Is there any way to get the handle (unique identifier) for Calendar, Notes and sms. I mean any library function is there which can return the handle value. Actually in callback function I am just getting the version , startdate, enddate, and data. Hi, Vasily, we found out that syncml plugin is broken and it is not reliable. I'm also not sure that SonyErr is supporting syncml. I remember on my K750i it was something else. Any way we should wait for a fix or fix it ourselfs. In fact opensync is looking for someone maintain the syncml related code. You can try using the older versions 0.22 or 0.39. Hi all, Sorry for my late reply, I oversaw the initial post. It seems that I have forgotten to commit the cmake module. I attach it to this mail, feel free to commit it to git/svn, I have to reconfigure my access. However, keep in mind that the gammu is not working yet. I got stuck with the gammu_contac->xmlformat conversion (unhelped with some C and xml object issues). Alternatively, the gammu engine could export the contacts/events in vcard-form, which could use the vformat plugin to do the conversion (but I am not experiences enough with OpenSync to do so, yet). Feel free to hack on gammu, I probably won't have time in the near future for it. Best regards, Quentin PS: still convinced that we should release a stable 0.40 version, for the sake of our potential contributors On Tuesday 07 June 2011 07:47:07 po...@gm... wrote: > Hi all, > > thanks for your replies. > > @Emanoil: I even started out with the gammu 1.29.0 source but then > switched to the package in my distro, for fear that I had missed some > important environment variable for making the custom gammu installation in > my /opt dir work properly (i.e. make its include files be found by the > gammu plugin). > > I thought that if I install libgammu-dev through the package manager, the > header files will be found in any case. Hi all, thanks for your replies. @Emanoil: I even started out with the gammu 1.29.0 source but then switched to the package in my distro, for fear that I had missed some important environment variable for making the custom gammu installation in my /opt dir work properly (i.e. make its include files be found by the gammu plugin). I thought that if I install libgammu-dev through the package manager, the header files will be found in any case. However, since the google calendar plugin also had issues (there were errors parsing the incoming events; it looked like it was expecting XML but not getting it) and it is not really sufficiently documented, I kinda gave up on my sync plans. I'd have to look at the code, I guess, and I just don't have the time to get that involved with OpenSync. Hopefully Quentin knows where the FindGammu.cmake file is, since he was working on it last. :-) I did a google search and a debian package search and a cmake git tree search, and didn't find it, so I'm assuming Quentin make it himself. Hi, I'm sorry, that no one replied to you mail and I'm for sure not the person that should do this, 'cause not dealing with 0.39, but you probably need to build gammu yourself - that's what I would do. respectively first check the gammu version and run locate FindGammu.cmake or equivalent to try finding if the file is there. There is no sense to hack on the file as you probably won't reinvent the wheel (except you are good in cmake). regards --- On Mon, 5/30/11, po...@gm... <po...@gm...> wrote: > From: po...@gm... <po...@gm...> > Subject: [Opensync-users] help with gammu-plugin installation > To: ope...@li... > Date: Monday, May 30, 2011, 7:49 AM > hi all, > > I wanted to test the gammu plugin with my SE k810i, but I > cannot for the life of me get that thing to compile on my > Natty linux box. > > First, I got a prompt from cmake telling me to specify the > path to the FindGammu.cmake file or to some config files > whose names couldn't be found in the sources I checked out > from svn. > > So I made a FindGammu.cmake by adapting FindBluez.cmake . > That made the prompt go away, but I get an error telling me > that gammu-types.h cannot be found when I try to compile the > plugin using make (libgammu-dev is installed). > > The funny thing is that it seems to find gammu.h alright, > which resides in the same dir as gammu-types.h.
