Hi, Is it possible to synchronize email via syncml (syncml-ds-tool)? If yes then please describe it in detailed steps. Hi Ashish, I am sorry to tell you that the syncml plugin is completely broken and that there is currently nobody actively working on it. In its current version, no email synchronization is possible. Hi Ashish, opensync is actually only the core which acts as engine. Devices/peers are supported by plugins[1]. Syncml is a protocol to exchange/syncronize PIM (contacts, calendars, tasks) data on mobile phones and I am actually not sure it supports email (on the mobile phone side). I am not sure about this, but you probably will have to build a new plugin for email syncronization (what kind of email after all? stored locally on a device? mbox? mailbox? or remote?). However, for syncml there are currently two libraries out there: ours, libsyncml, and another one, more mature, libsynthesis. Kind regards, Quentin [1] http://opensync.org/wiki/GettingStarted and http://opensync.org/wiki/plugins On Monday 11 April 2011 17:32:01 you wrote: > HI, > thanks for ur time,but can you please tell me that, there is different > plugin (link) for email ,msg,phonebook,calendar or there is single > plugin(link) for all??? > which one is broken??where i can find that particular email plugin(link)?? > i ll try to make it work if u help me. > > On Sun, Apr 10, 2011 at 4:52 AM, Quentin Denis <que...@gm...>wrote: > > Hi Ashish, > > > > I am sorry to tell you that the syncml plugin is completely broken and > > that there is currently nobody actively working on it. Hi Ashish, as I told you, syncml is broken and I am not the right person to help you on that piece of opensync. You should discuss this on the opensync mailing list, but unfortunately you might get no anwser given the current status of the project... that's a pity, I agree. Ashish,
you should debug and fix yourself.
Just find and examin this function _smlXmlParserFixBrokenItemData
at about line 1874 in libsyncml/trunk/libsyncml/parser/sml_xml_parse.c
/* This fix was implemented for text/x-vMessage.
* Some mobiles encode SMS always as UTF-16
* even if the XML document is encoded in UTF-8.
* Example: Nokia E71
*/
probably you need a fix for your case or something similar. You need to look into the traces identify the problem and implement a fix. If you do this all of us will be happy ;-)
regards
PS: Quentin, what I was thinking recently, if we could write somewhere ... make some publicity in the web for a developer for syncml which is crucial for mobile sync. What do you think?
