[Opensync-users] OpenSync release 0.20

Hi everyone,

I'm happy to announce the general availability of OpenSync 0.20, after "onl=
y"=20
5 weeks of development.

These are the highlights of this release:
o Multisync (GUI) for OpenSync got rewritten by Daniel Friedrich
o Kitchensync supports disabling of object types (not released - KDE SVN on=
ly)
o Time API is thread safe
o Time API handle xml-event Timezone Information
o Added new object type "memo" for plain/text notes
o Avoid slow-syncs when connection failed
o msynctool is now more verbose and shows the plugin name
o SyncML Plugin:=20
          * Avoid crash of OBEX stack of mobile phone on
             transport errors and send OBEX Disconnect signal.

             This happens often on mobile phones which can't
              handle a synchronisation while another application
              is running on the mobile phone (Calendar, Addressbook, ...)
    =20
          * Avoid crash when recieving deleted items without
             a contenttype

          * Hint: If you have a Sony Erricson and have trouble to sync
            events, try as calendar_db "agenda". Some SE may have 4th SyncML
            database for todos, which is not yet supported by the          =
                                                 =20
            syncml-plugin.

release. Matthias Jahn for preparing packages of nearly every SVN revision=

and fixing problems of every kind. Daniel Friedrich for his work on=20
the "Quick and Dirty" branch of multisync. Tobias K=F6nig und Cornelius=20
Schumacher for their work on Kitchensync, especially for the lightning=20
integration of filtering object types! And of course to Armin Bauer, who=20
spend a whole weekend on hacking libsyncml and OpenSync to improve the=20
support of the Nokia 6230(i) series and other mobile phones.

OpenSync is still in early stages of development. Please don't sync=20
without a _full backup_ and only sync if you are able to restore from=20
your backup! Please follow the plugin's README prior to using a plugin!

OpenSync 0.20 and most of it's appendant plugins will be packaged with=20
the openSUSE Build Service and will soon available for Mandriva 2006,=20
=46edora Core 5, SUSE Linux 10.0 and 10.1 at:
