I don't know anything about the Kubuntu packages, but OpenSync works as
a server in the sense that it listens for incoming connections from a
phone if you set it up to use syncml-http-server as one of the plug-ins.

I assume that the P800 will work like the P900, which requires at least
a small hack to start syncing currently:

If you're comfortable with compiling and debugging C code I'd give it a
shot, otherwise it's probably better to wait...
