This is with SynCE.  When my iPaq 4700 is connected and communicating with the notebook over USB, I can get status and everything seems fine, until I try and copy a file in either direction...  using either rapip in Konq, or synce-pcp.  

The copy goes for about five seconds, and then raki on the notebook disconnects.  Reason is, the ppp0 device got murdered.  Watching this with Ethereal, there are several retransmissions (comm failures) before the disconnect,and then BAM.  Syslog only says:

pppd[4275]: Modem hangup

kernel: ipaq 1-1:1.0: device disconnected
pppd[4275]: Exit.
kernel: ipaq ttyUSB0: PocketPC PDA converter now disconnected from ttyUSB0

No password is set for the iPaq in Settings|Password.  Haven't dared attempt a sync.

No idea what's wrong.
