I know that the timezone problem is a real issue. The problem is that
its not easy to fix in opensync internally (but we are working on it)

when a slow-sync is performed, opensync will drop the existing mappings
between objects and try to remap them.

If the same object (like an event) is stored very differently on the
phone (opposed to evolution) or if the phones supports less fields,
opensync might not be able to reestablish the mappings correctly. the
result is that all items are duplicated.
