Are you aware that I have already done that for the 3.x branch of the
C++ API? I use it for a stand-alone Evolution sync client which is
quite usable already:

The 0.2 source tar ball contains the full client C++ library source
code with some fixes which I haven't checked into Funambol's
CVS because the head revision there is currently undergoing some
changes.
