Oh dear ! I won't live this one down ! As soon as Chris said it's "odd I'm not installing into /usr" I too realised its pretty strange. For some silly reason I assumed thats how you guys like to install. No, its one stupid copy and paste error on my part. I copied the cmake line from README, including the "=$prefix" which I replaced with "=$/usr". Yep,left the '$' in ! So sorry to worry you guys. I'll proceed....
