Yes, you are using the wrong tool. syncml-ds-tool (version 0.5.x) was designed for testing and full sync. This means that you can use it to backup or restore your mobile but it has no real state or index management. syncml-ds-tool of the actually prepared 0.6.x series can do such stuff but the trunk is actually in a beta phase. You can see the planned and realized stuff at https://libsyncml.opensync.org/wiki/docs/trunk/syncml-ds-tool If you want to do real synchronization then please use OpenSync for this. snycml-ds-tool of libsyncml stable can only be used for testing and full backup/restore.
