I sync an n95 over Bluetooth with kontact/kdepim using opensync 0.22/libsyncml 
0.4.5 without problem. Evolution worked too, but w/o notes. It seems many of 
the Nokia E and N series behave the same.

Ok lets put the question another way around ... Does somebody use IRDA for syncing and can report that it has been successfull and with which Phone/Model.

Besides even with bluetooth I was not possible to sync. My new notebook also, does not have bluetooth and I don't want to use it. I simply preffer infrared.

Is there a matrix per connection type (USB/BT/IR) of phones that have been reproted to sync properly. And I mean EVERYTHING syncing calender, notes etc in KDE?
What you are writing ... it syncs besides notes is also odd, so the sync is not working.
