I have no direct answer to your question, but for Debian etch you can get 
version 0.22 from

#opensync
deb http://opensync.gforge.punktart.de/repo/opensync-0.21/ etch main
deb-src http://opensync.gforge.punktart.de/repo/opensync-0.21/ etch main

This might work for more phones than version 0.19.
