[Opensync-users] Advice on a cell phone purchase?

Hello.

I'm about to purchase a cellular phone and I want this phone to synchronize 
the contacts and calendar with my computer via Bluetooth or USB, preferrably 
Bluetooth.

I'm running Debian GNU/Linux 4.0, which has OpenSync 0.19.

I'm attracted towards purchasing a Motorola i876 and I notice that it is not 
in the device lists.

Why is there such an absence of Motorola devices from the list?

Is there a chance that it will work?

Am I much better off purchasing a device knows to work?

Are there any recommendations?

The devices that are offered "for free" by the local cellular operators are:

So I can choose from any of these without hurting my pocket. If there are 
models that are known-excellent support which are not in this list, I may 
consider paying extra to get one.

Also, is there a company that is considered to be more opensource friendly? 
One that releases datasheets and such? I would tend to prefer that company's 
products.
