We have released the 1.0.0 version of the Symphero Object Server.Symphero Object Server (SOS) version 1.0.0 has made it past the beta stage, and is available for download here at sourceforge! Designed and developed in OO PERL using Apache and a choice of open-source databases, it provides an API for programmers who wish to be able to store persistent objects and retrieve them without having to code to the database each time. We have also release the initial classe structure for Symphero 3.1.0, please download the documentation and take a look. It helps provide a roadmap for the classes we are working on for the next major release. That's very cool. Let us know the resources you need. I don't think it would be that difficult to maintain a seperate Spanish branch of the template tree. -----Original Message----- From: ope...@li... Subject: [Opensymphero-developers] Will do spanish version Hi again, If I decide to use the symphero system, I´m going to translate the templates for the admin and basic site (the one that is then cloned) into spanish. Since this is opensource, of course I would send them to the guys at symphero so that the spanish version is available. If my offering is useful to you (which I think it is), I would need to have the actual templates. I´m asking for them this way because on the templates directory, there seems to be many identical templates with different names, and it would be a waste of time fo work with those.. It's included in our S4 engine which will be released soon. (It has been deployed on at least one very large site to date). We only gather customer information securely on check-out. We originally weren't big fans of requiring registration for shopping through the site so we took that approach with it. Yes, using the sendmail argument to Mail::Mailer is acceptable, in fact, that's what we were doing for a long time, but we changed it to SMTP because qmail's sendmail wrapper wasn't responding properly as sendmail. This suggests that we should set up a Debian tester box here, even if we aren't personally using it. I will ask someone to do so, and we can think about the best way to support both systems. |

My guess is that it has something to do with multi-line answers from exim. As far as I remember a lot of perl mailer do not handle it well. You can check exim configuration for a way to make its responses one-liners (if you want to use exim of course). Otherwise your fix is good. Hi, it seems that it was the MTA screw up mail sending since the default is exim in Debian. I've changed to sendmail and it looks fine. I've changed the mail transfer method from 'smtp' to 'sendmail' in Symphero::OutgoingMail as well for this but using SMTP (with any MTA) would be the best solution (what I did not checked with sendmail yet). Once again not a single Symphero developer got this message so I thought I would repost. Bil you might want to take a look at this - I think this a relatively simple fix. Previous author Szilva -- http://www.wbic.cam.ac.uk/~sj233 I`ve almost succeed in to install v3.0.3 on a Debian/potato, and I will send a howto as I can solve the very last step. It seems that ReceiveOrder.cgi (yes, that huge one) does not hande things correctly or the debian perl libs are incompatible somehow. What I can see in the exim (MTA) log is: 2000-07-22 21:38:22 unexpected disconnection while reading SMTP data in the apache log: SUBTOTAL: 12.25 TAX 0.00 SHIPPING 0 [Sat Jul 22 21:38:16 2000] ReceiveOrder.cgi: Database handle destroyed without explicit disconnect at /home/httpd/html/webraktar/cgi/ReceiveOrder.cgi line 344. Sending email to xxxx@xxxxx Sending email to yyyy@yyyyy But no mails arrive any of the addresses, although the order can be found in the admin pages. It is obvious, because with strace (it was a strace for the cgi started from command line): 3807 open("/home/httpd/html///webraktar//cgi/order.email_template", O_RDONLY) = 5 [..] 3807 read(5, "Dear WebSite Representative,A"..., 4096) = 864 [..] 3807 open("Dear WebSite Representative, An order has been entered on your website. Here is the information they [...] Sincerely, The folks at WebRaktar", O_RDONLY) = -1 ENAMETOOLONG (File name too long) 3807 brk(0x83a6000) = 0x83a6000 [..] than opens Mail/Mailer/smtp.pm but it is pointless. Argh seems it want to treat the whole file as a filename! Have anybody seen an error like this? It is the same with sendmail (the RH default MTA). Or did I just mistyped something at setup? Szilva |

Apparently not one of the developers of Symphero received this e-mail. I am reposting it to the list. There is documentation - We will be putting it on line shortly. I will e-mail you a copy. actually, i was just looking for more documentation. basically, i am interested in anything that has a good affiliate component. we are going to use ccbill for credit card authorization because we don`t want to have the liability of running our own card operations and we are looking for an affiliate solution that already does most of what we want in as flexible a way as possible to shorten the time to get up and running. our goals are to be able to change card handlers at will without affiliates having to change code on their pages, to have all affiliate data in a relational db (we have been using mysql for a long time and would like to continue using it) ie no flat files. is there an overview document explaining how the differnet pieces of symphero fit together? thanks again jacob martinson On Fri, Jul 14, 2000 at 11:36:42AM -0500, jacob martinson wrote: > hello, > > i have been looking for a good affiliate package that i can use and > modify as needed. is there any active development going on with > symphero right now? > > thanks > > jacob martinson |

We appeared to be having some trouble with our list for the past week. It appears to have cleared up.
