A message for anyone's interested, I (leftos) has resumed the administration of this project, which had ceased development 3 months after I started it, back in February 2009.

Although I'm not sure where this project will be headed, since I've got messages from project admins of similar, quite more advanced projects of subtitle editing to join them with any ideas I had in their projects, I decided to just resume administrating the project in hope that someone will come along and get it going with me.... read more

Quick announcement to inform everyone interested that the project's wiki has been made open to edit by anyone who's a member in SourceForge. That should allow people interested in the project but not (yet?) on the project's team to add to the documentation or improve the current one. Tonight's nightly has been released and the SVN repository has been updated. The changelog is as follows:

Version 0.1.1 (Revision Rolling)
Nightly 090127 (Revision 36)
- ADD: Added Quick Add and Quick Edit functions which allow to create a new subtitle or edit an existing one with timings based on the time the button is pressed and released. Allows for easy acoustic synchronization.
- BUG: Fixed occasional crash while clicking subtitle row with video playing.
- BUG: Fixed the Pause icon remaining on the Play/Pause button if a new video is loaded while playing the previous one.
- ENH: Tried to improve seeking time by pausing the video before seeking with the slider bar.
- FIX: Fixed a miswritten message.
- ENH: Improved Interface Translator to inform the user whether the currently loaded Translation file is complete or not, and to quickly select the first missing line.
Nightly 090119 (Revision 33)
- ENH: Improved many aspects of the subtitle editing, mainly in regards to timing checks. In most cases the program will not allow the show timing to be later than the hide timing.
- ENH: The Subtitle & Preview tab no longer includes the subtitle editing area, which has been made always in view. The tab is now the Preview tab and includes only the Video Preview controls, and the Tabs can be hidden altogether. The Debug tab will be opened automatically whenever an event requires the users attention.
- ADD: Most commonly used subtitle editing functions in the Edit menu now have keyboard shortcuts.
- OTH: Other minor fixes
Nightly 090118 (Revision 30)
- ENH: Now can succesfully read and write subtitle files saved in the most commonly used Unicode encodings (UTF8, Unicode Little Endian, Unicode Big Endian), as well as the system's default encoding for non-Unicode files.
- ADD: Added Unknown Format window which asks the user to pick the format and encoding themselves in case the program couldn't guess them.
- BUG: Interface Translator would crash when clicking Cancel on the Save Translation prompt.
- ADD: Program displays a warning regarding codecs on first run.
- BUG: Status label was not displaying on the Status bar.
- OTH: English language file now includes indication of where the translator can put their name to get proper credit.
- BUG: Unexpected behaviour of X button on the Main Window after the Debug Window had been shown.
- ENH: Debug window is now a tab in the Main window, making the program fully accessible in common ...x768 resolutions.
- FIX: Fixed size of controls to fit new translations.
- FIX: Fixed some controls that didn't have strings read for them from the language file.
- BUG: Program now works in systems where the Regional Settings have a decimal separator other than ",".
Nightly 090116 (Revision 20)
- OTH: Interface is no longer resizable. Will look into adding such functionality in the future, but for now it's not a priority. The program can be used in resolutions from 1024x768 and over.
- ADD: The Inteface Translator doesn't require you to have the source installed, as it can load the Languages folder now too.
- OTH: The interface has been revamped to not use the Remote Control form anymore but to rather have the controls on the main form. Scroll bars have been added and can be used to adjust the video position and volume.
- BUG: Fixed a bug introduced in 0.1.1.0 that caused the application not being able to exit after the Debug window had been shown.
Nightly 090111 (Revision 17)
- ENH: Now uses Subtitles.vb instead of LoadSaveSubs.vb, which adds a structured format for each subtitle, as well as an array for the subtitle file to be loaded into. Allows easier access and manipulation of subtitles, and should also allow for easier coding.
- ADD: Added Quick Edit functionality on the bottom of the window, which allows the user to quickly change the Show, Hide, Duration, Text, isBold and isItalic attributes of the subtitle.
- ENH: User can now choose whether to see the Video Player, even when a video is loaded.
- ENH: Debug window is by default hidden, latest changes are displayed for 3 seconds on the new status bar. User can choose to display it, and the program displays it automatically if overlap errors are found.
- ADD: Added the option of sorting the subtitle table by show timing.
- ENH: Improved the subtitle preview code, a lot. Now Rewind and Forward should work much better, as well as pausing, resuming and stopping.
- ENH: Forwarding and rewinding while stopped is now working.
- OTH: Changed source files structure.... read more

A big thank you to all translators again for their active support and work on always getting their translations up-to-date. Just a note though, something I didn't mention in previous mails. You're not required to send your translation over for development builds that don't get officially released, such as SVN updates and Nightlies. The reminder included in such development updates is so that you don't stay far behind from the development and always be able to test your translation in the program and if it's working correctly, if controls need to be resized to fit the text, etc.... read more

This new project sees its first public release with the milestone of Alpha 0. It's a fully functional version, but given the Alpha status as the final UI layout hasn't been decided as well as many features could be added before going to beta.
