I did a quick test and it does appear that SketchUp 7.0.10247 does do
some tricky stuff with faces. Faces on z = 0 do seem to have downward
normals irregardless of the order the vertices are drawn in. Also,
normals of new faces are set to match existing, co-planar faces if the
two share an edge. Is this behavior documented somewhere and is it
possible to alter it?
Thanks a lot,
Dan

Hello, I have started to look into an issue in an existing plugin and
am having trouble identifying if the following behavior is coming from
SketchUp or the plugin. When I draw a horizontal face using the line
tool on any plane other than z = 0 the face normal follows the right
hand rule according to the order that I draw the points of the face
polygon. When I draw this face on z = 0 the normal is always
downward, no matter which way I input the points. Is this behavior
expected from SketchUp (without any plugins)?
Thanks a lot,
Dan

Is there anything to be done here beside documentation?
