Version 1.0.0 Release - Beta 1

This is the first upload.
Some of this code has been developed over some time; others are fairly new and untested.

The Scanner application is pretty nice and is functional, improving on some of the previous examples. I plan on taking this set of libraries and examples quite a bit further, but I don't know the path yet.

Feel free to request features or comment on anything.
